1990 964 C2
Forestgrün over Mahogany with velour inserts // 80,730 miles
-
Hartmut Praetorius was a purist Porsche steward, represented in his thoroughly enjoyed and scarcely speced 964 delivered January 23rd 1990 to Hahn Porsche in Göppingen ordered Fir Green metallic with an interior that is true Ferry & Dodo vintage: speical order mahagani leather & carpets with velour inserts depicted Hartmut’s Stuttgart acumen, this is combination we will likely never see again.
Ferry & co preferred dark greens over all Porsche tones, and this example was special ordered in Mahogany leather and ordered with velour inserts to honor the 76-77 three liter Carrera. The interior is nearly absent of the typical aging patina seen in 964’s. The dash is perfect, the bolsters are miraculously free of wear and thevelour is plush, tight and absent of flaws. It almost presents like a restored example.
The service history began at regular Porsche intervals of 20 // 40 // 60 // 80 km per porsche dealer spec. Forest-Mahagani is a true survivor 964, averaging 2,300 miles annually. She is a mechanically sorted example that has been well documented with over 30k euros of service in the last 10k miles. Fir’s mileage is verified in both service documents and Porsche logbooks dating back to 1990. 79,000 miles have been added by Hartmut and his heirs since 1990.
Hartmut was a true steward having the major services executed at Porsche Wuppertal with 10 year engine-out intervals in 1997 & 2007, and again the engine was removed for a reseal in 2023 in Germany by Werk 2 Sportwagen. The 2007 service was at 118km and included a complete case split and new machined piston heads.
We have added over 600 km to this car in preparation following the export in late 2023. During our road testing we found and corrected the fuel sending unit & a damper noise in the heating system.
Our major repair was a common 964 issue of door check strap failure, which was corrected by Raymond’s certified Porsche and later finished by our 3M engineer paint genie. Paint correction on this Fir lasted over 30 hours on this exterior, including the removal of abundant surface swirl marks and road patina from the clear coat, leading to glossometer readings in peak FormaRara spec. Removal of clear coat swirls and bringing the finished gloss readings to 95-98 throughout her shell with a full ceramic coating are truly thrilling for the completed product. The car now presents beautifully and has a fully protection layer of ceramic coated with feynlab Ultra.
The combination on this 964 is truly iconic, Hartmut’s Mahogany Fir is an absolute unicorn. Ready for her purist American steward, this remarkable 964 spec is one that we will never see again, and we’re excited to place this example with a driver that enjoys her for many smiles & miles to come.
